Training courses are offered throughout the year and are usually held at the Nanomechanics, Inc. (NMI) facility in Oak Ridge, TN. The core set of training courses are listed below; however, customized training courses to target specific needs or topics are also available. Please contact the Analytical Services Laboratory to inquire about training courses at NMI or to setup training at your facility.

Nanoindentation Boot Camp (3 Days)
- Introduction to instrumented indentation
- The indentation process and choosing a test methodology
- Scratch and wear testing
- Optimizing test parameters and adjusting test segments
- Tip calibrations and instrument performance evaluation
- Lab sessions covering many aspects of indentation and scratch testing.
TestWorks® and NanoSuite® software method development (3 days)
- Creation of new test methods (channels, formulas, and inputs)
- Development of control algorithms
- Data acquisition and control
- Modeling of a nanoindenter (mechanics of operation for understanding limits and control)
- Specific method design
- PID control
- Lab sessions
Imaging and targeting (2 days)
- Optimization of engaging the sample
- Imaging techniques with XP and DCM transducers (contact scanning, plane scanning, under fluid scanning)
- Targeting and testing samples using the Agilent - Nano Vision® piezo stage (indentation and scratch testing)
- Lab sessions
Tensile testing with the Agilent T150 NanoUTM® (2.5 days)
- Introduction to nano-scale tensile and compression testing
- Dynamic testing on the T150/UTM
